Just flying back in from Vegas, I grabbed a bottle of this and headed out to Dynamic Dave’s.
Gaillac is one of France’s oldest wine growing areas, I haven’t had a ton of wine from here, but I’ve had several vintages of this particular wine.
2006 Château Lastours Gaillac Les Graviers Gaillac
(France, Southwest France, Gaillac) Sauvignon Blanc, Sémillon, blend. Approx $12 at Ansley
NOTES:
Crazy aromas of lemongrass, gooseberry, grapefruit, and lime. On the palate, concentrated citrus and a little minerality and a long acidic & refreshing finish.
CONCLUSION:
This is some good, super-bang-for-the-buck juice. This could masquerade as a bottle of decent Pouilly-Fume (at 1/3 the price). I’d love to serve this blind. I may go ahead and buy this by the case and make this my house summer-sipper. DIRTY and a total bargain.
