After reading several promising things about SOCIAL, Lady Dirty and I made a visit on Saturday night.
Tucked downtown, in the side-street behind FAB, SOCIAL is a cool space, that is unpretentious and inviting.
With me having more of an eye for wine than food, I found a wine list that was well thought out, moderately priced (most bottles in the $20's and low $30's and a few splurgey ones), and that had some cool pours by the glass. Unsure of what I was going to order, I ordered a crisp, acidic glass of Familie Hahn Gruner Veltliner, and also a smooth glass of 2002 Quinta de Portal Douro red.
Doulgas, Ashley, and Ray were great hosts, and I felt like we were dining with friends rather than being served.
We snacked on some artichoke hearts, roasted potatoes, veggie pasta, and a grilled quail dish that was damn good (and a perfect size). 2 Glasses of wine, 2 apps, 2 entrees- all for around $50. This was a good deal, and we'll be back.
If you check out SOCIAL, make sure you look on the side street for parking before you decide to pay the $5 at the garage at FAB. When walking up, we found 2 prime spots right in front of the restaurant. It is also only about 2 blocks from the Civic Center MARTA stop.
