If you aren't familiar with Atlanta's TOP FLR, Bon Appetit just named them the 3rd best wine bar in the US.
This is a quick video (pre-official post) of TOP FLR and their entry into "Riding Dirty" the 2008 Dirty South Wine Atlanta Wine Pairing Challenge.
For their pairing, Adam picked a 2007 Cote de Gascogne (Gros Manseng grape) matched with Crispy Green Tomatoes, Arugula, and Crab Remoulade. $17 for the pair!
The pairing worked very well-- A crisp, acidic wine with hints of Jalapeno, paired with a few slices of perfectly fried tomato, some tasty crab, and pepperty arugula. We dug it! Bonus points to Adam for going big with the Gros Manseng variety!
In the video, you may see some things that resemble neither Gros Manseng or Fried Green Tomatoes. Wanting to keep a taste of Gascony rolling, Adam brought out a few glasses of Madrian Laplace and a some Pappardelle with Duck Confit. Though not an official entry into "Riding Dirty", this was a great pair as well.
We'll get more video, notes, and photos up on TOP FLR's entry in the coming days.
If you go out and try some of these pairings, drop us an email or a comment- We'd love to hear what you think!
