Sorry for the last posts being sparse. My last 2 weeks have been a whirlwind of business travel and I'm finally back for a few days (I hope).
Even with the travel, I was able to squeeze in some good times and interesting wines. With two, I've been sworn to secrecy, while both were excellent, one was the wine equivalent of this
Or "Bigfoot Terror"--But, just imagine that this was the best movie ever made (that was starring Bigfoot), and that Bigfoot was cherry red, liquid, older than 38, and was like sipping on kittens souls to steal their powers!
Regardless of who, what and where- there are wines out there that are borderline psychedelic, undersea, adventures... Find them.
Closer to this side of the rabbit-hole, while in the LA area, I met up with one of my favorite wine bloggers- Amy Atwood from mydailywine. Besides being super-cool, Amy is a champion of organic, biodynamic, and natural winemaking. She suggested that we meet up at Palate Food + Wine in Glendale CA.
Scattered, Smothered, and Covered!!!! I have another happy place. What I dream about in a wine bar- Amazing, eclectic, selections (lots of organic and biodynamic selections). Fairly priced, 2.5 oz pours- charcuterie and cheese selections that I'd beat a school kid over, and a commitment to making great wine and food accessible, comfortable, and unpretentious. On top of that, for an off-night, they were full. What blew me away is that here is a place firing on all wine & food-dork cylinders- Nothing dumbed down, no corners cut- and people responded. F'n A!
