Yesterday, I received an amazing offer from a company, let’s call them XAX Media.
The people at this XAX Media were obviously all excited, so excited that they sent me a unpersonalized, unsolicited message about 2 wine movies they made that now come with free sunglasses-- Can you believe it? Free sunglasses! Now due to harvest, I have worked 84 days straight, and after hearing this great news, I almost shittled my shorts.
You have to understand, I am lucky, I receive more than a dozen of these fantastic messages a day (that is more than 88 per week!), but this one really got my pickle! I was so excited by this unbelievable offer (RAY BANZ for DAYYYYYYYYS!!!!), that instead of responding to this great offer saying “UNFUCKINGBELIEVABLE” I mistakenly wrote “UNFUCKINGSUBSCRIBE” ( #unfuckingsubscribe)-- My heartfelt honest mistake, because if I am going to be perpin' a wine movie double feature, I better be wearing some free sunglasses.
Well it was much to my excitement that I recieved an email shortly after, let’s say it was from Chriz, a partner at this so called XAX Media. Chriz sends me this awfully nice message entitled:
“hope to generate bad press for you”
Being all horned up about their initial offer, I just read passed the title quickly and dove into “the meat” (as we call it in “the industry”) of the message. In this really nice message she mentions the great Dick Vermeil! Whoaaaaaaa! This Chriz is connected! She mentions that she is going to ask Dick and some dude named Paul, about me! Can you believe it? Now from her website, I know Chriz knows a couple of cool dudes, she’s got clips for some guy from Whitesnake punching down a tank in a tie, and hey, we know that Whitesnake guy was probably porking that lady on the car "VAROOOOM!", and then she’s got a clip of guy from some crazy band but who probably wasn’t in the original band, and now I hear about Dick and that dude Paul-- Furkle me tender!!!!!!!!!
What is even better, is that this gal Chris then posts on her business Facebook page that she and I were chatting, she also post this to her twitter account! CYBERSPACE NOW!!!!! I love how we just went open kimono straight to INTERNETS!
Well as Chris does this I get so excited that I share her offer and this story with almost 400 wine business marketing and social media professionals. This group can’t get enough of this awesome story. They keep trying to post to XaXn’s facebook page, but Chriz must be shy, all of the comments keep falling off their page.
You know, I think we can learn a lot from these XAX folks. They know how to reach out and capture attention-- Send Unsolicited Commercial Email (just add Ray Bans!!!!) and also how to dive in and engage their prospects with messages entitled “hope to generate bad press for you” fully laden with celebrity endorsements. Well best of luck to XAX Media!
